    Come and meet deep-sea scientists, learn about deep seafloor ecosystems and why they are important

    How the seafloor functions is strongly linked to humans and the rest of the world – we need it to survive! In this free science showcase, come and meet scientists from Heriot-Watt University  and the National Museum of Scotland and discover how impacts such as climate change and deep-sea mining might affect this delicate ecosystem.

    Catch a glimpse into the world of the deep-sea research exploring these incredible habitats

    See some real life deep-sea animals up close, experience diving to the deep with footage from deep diving vehicles, design your own cup to crush at depth and even try your hand at some deep-sea sampling!

    Discover what life at sea on a research cruise is like for these scientists and how the kit they use works, including demos of equipment that can withstand diving to over 4000m depth!
