Through a packed calendar of events across Scotland, Explorathon examines the incredible variety of research happening today and shows how it touches every part of our lives.
The month-long festival brings researchers to the forefront, offering young people – along with their parents and teachers – a unique opportunity to peek behind the curtain and discover what makes research so vital and exciting.
The official Explorathon weekend runs from Friday 26 September to Sunday 28 September when events will be happening all around Europe as part of the European Researchers’ Night. However in Scotland, the exploration starts early and continues all month long, delivered through a consortium of Scottish universities from Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow, the Highlands & Islands and Strathclyde.
It’s the 12th year that the festival has been feeding curious minds across the country and this year attractions will include a series of activities that focus on the lives of whales and dolphins off the west coast of Scotland, looking at our world from space, as well as Discovery Day taking over the campus in Aberdeen and the return of the wildly popular Scrap Antics in Dundee.
Whether you’re passionate about science, curious about how research shapes our world, or simply looking for a fun way to spend your time, Explorathon 2025 has something for you.
Explore the event listings, mark your calendar, and get ready for a month full of inspiration and discovery.
