Six simple steps to protect biodiversity – Why should we care?

Biodiversity describes the number of different organisms (species) living in a given area (habitat). Biodiversity is currently under threat as a result of global warming, deforestation, pollution, and other human activities. Protecting biodiversity is not only good for the future of our planet, but as explained in this presentation, it may be very useful for human health as living organisms (e.g. plants, animals, microbes) are a huge reservoir of chemical substances which provide inspiration for the development of new medicines. Everyone has a role to play in protecting biodiversity. This can easily be done if we follow six simple steps.

If you want to make your garden, balcony or even windowsill more bee-friendly, here are some plants that you can grow.
